How Long Can My Knee Replacement Last?
It is important to know how long the knee replacement implants can last in one’s knee and provide good knee function.
In a “Long-term follow-up of a non-randomised prospective cohort of one hundred and ninety two total knee arthroplasties using the NexGen implant.” Panni et al found the implant survival rate (overall) was 94.7% at the latest follow-up with minimum follow-up of 15 years post-implantation.
In recent publication entitled “Implant Survivorship and Complication Rates After Total Knee Arthroplasty With a Third-Generation Cemented System: 15-Year Follow-Up”, Sartawi et el followed up 99 patients who had undergo total knee replacement for 15 years. The 15 year implant survivorship was 98%.
