Mechanism of Injury

• By change direction rapidly
• Slowing down from running
• Landing from a jump
• A bad tackle

Symptoms

• Tenderness on resisted contraction
  • Wrist extensors
• Tenderness on palpation

Associated Injuries

• Meniscus Tears
• Cartilage Tears
• Tears to other ligaments

If such a problem is NOT surgically reconstructed

• Knee becomes unstable
• Meniscus and cartilage tears
• Difficulty getting back to pivoting games e.g. soccer
• Eventually osteoarthiritis at early age
